OUR STORY
Expressed Entertainment is the family- owned company. It was founded by Johnette "JA" Warren-Askew II in 2002 and she would join forces with Marvin R. Askew II in 2009. It started innocently enough. He came to her home studio to work on his spoken word album and they have been together every since. From there he would help her shoot her first commercial for her studio which started them on a collaborative path that would become their lifestyle. She often says she is the music to his video. They would continue to work together and would eventually marry in 2012. Johnette would share her vision of owning and operating a major studio and indie label and Marvin would accept the challenge. Together they would grow both their skill levels, the business and their team.
JA is the C.E.O. and Marvin is the President of Digital Cinematography & Photography. Together they have produced several music video projects including projects for the music artist Tifani and Jetaun Louie. They have also produced their first feature length film "The Glass Floor" written and directed by JA and Produced by Marvin and several short films.
Together they have also started the EXE Jr. Youth Program where they teach what they have learned over the years to the next generation. Partnering with the Mayor Summer Youth Internship Program, they teach incoming 7-12th grade students an introduction to audio and video production, graphic design and photography as well as creative writing and spoken word poetry.
Their most recent project was bringing Celeste Lawson's "Typography of Women: I Am Not Invisible" to film. This original stage production was created to shed light on human trafficking and raise money for Project Mona's House. It will be on Vimeo On Demand December 11th,12th and 13th. The teams capabilities have grown to developing websites, doing graphic design and special effects, wedding videography and photography, podcast and so much more! But if you ask JA, Expressed Entertainment is just getting started!
